Learning tango and dance in Aberystwyth

Those who are interested in trying tango for the first time and learn dancing are welcome to see if this is something for them. This is an informal venue, and everybody is welcome. See more info below...

The classes will cover tango technique, posture, the embrace, walking and rhythm, expression and musicality. We shall familiarise ourselves with different tango music rhythms (Tango, Vals and Milonga) so we can start dancing in the milonga (the tango social dance space). Also, some history and etiquette for tango dancers will be provided during the classes as this is a social dance and there are some basic rules that are applicable in any milonga of the world.

What to wear:
  • Shoes with a back on them – flip flops or slip-ons are not dance friendly and there is a risk of injuries to your feet and joints
  • Shoes that are comfortable
  • Shoes that will pivot and slide easily on the wooden floor (leather soles are better options)
  • Comfortable clothes – clothes you can move in comfortably!
There is a bar and restaurant in the building and is open during the evening.
